Second Chapter Brewing™ opened for business in Ogallala, Nebraska, in January 2023.
Our goal from the beginning has been to create a vibrant space for Downtown Ogallala. We brew onsite in the renovated old city library, which has been repurposed into a community taproom. It features a shaded deck where you can try our high-quality craft beer or seltzer. You may also bring in your favorite take-out, delivery, or food truck options, or order our bar snacks and charcuterie boards.

What's in a name?
This business represents a “Second Chapter” in several ways. Not only is this a new chapter for the building that previously held the former Goodall City Library, but this is a new chapter for us personally as business owners here in Ogallala, and a new chapter for the Kraus family, which has a pre-Prohibition brewing legacy.

Our taproom
Our taproom offers a unique and relaxing experience. You can check out the production area of the brewery through taproom windows, relax on the couch, grab a seat at the bar, or take in some fresh air on the deck. Kids are welcome. Conversations are encouraged. Your well-behaved, leashed, fur-babies can join you on our dog-friendly deck.
Our beer is available on 15 taps. You can sample any of them in 5-ounce taster glasses or in a full pour. We recommend starting with a card-catalog flight, which includes five tasters. We offer craft beverages from other producers -- Sprecher's Root Beer is on tap and Ensign Beverage's kombucha and cold brew coffee are available in cans. We also offer hand-selected wine, bourbon, and a variety of canned sodas or other beverages.
If you're hungry, we offer bar snacks, such as pub charcuterie and locally made spent-grain beer bars, brownies or crackers. We also host rotating food trucks in our parking lot. You may bring in your own outside food too, but no outside beverages, please.
