Second Chapter Brewing will close at 7pm on Thursday, April 27, for a private event.

E3: Energizing Entrepreneurial Ecosystems
Since fall 2021, Keith County has been participating in a program aimed at strengthening communities by focusing on entrepreneurial ecosystems. Alongside Valley County, Holt County, Sidney, Red Cloud, and McCook, Keith County participants are receiving training, education, and peer learning opportunities to boost local prosperity. On April 27-28, Keith County will host its counterparts in the program to showcase our community.
Richard Gibson and Lisa Kraus, as owners of Second Chapter Brewing, have been involved as participants in the program from the beginning and are thrilled to host the group on Thursday night.

Business success does not happen in a vacuum. Our local ecosystem fills in important pieces of the puzzle and helps us all be better.

We are celebrating Nebraska Tourism and kicking off the 2023 Nebraska Passport season!

Visit the Second Chapter Brewing taproom on Saturday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an opportunity to meet authors Tim and Lisa Trudell.

100 Things to Do in Nebraska 2nd Edition
Explore the birthplaces of Nebraska-centric events, such as the Old West Balloon Festival and O’Neill’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Remember the people, from visiting Johnny Carson’s hometown to the birthplace of civil rights leader Malcolm X. Find great places to eat and drink, including Potter, the birthplace of the Tin Roof Sundae and Glur’s Tavern, the oldest continuously operating bar west of the Mississippi, and find adventure throughout the country’s 16th geographically largest state.

Tim and Lisa Trudell, residents of southwest Omaha, own the travel blog The Walking Tourists. Lisa was a travel professional for more than 16 years and currently works as an online marketing specialist for an in-home care company. Tim is a freelance writer and an enrolled member of the Santee Dakota Nation. A US Air Force veteran, Tim currently writes for outlets such as Indian Country Today, Nebraska Magazine, Flatwater Free Press, Next Avenue, TravelAwaits, Extended Weekend Getaways, Nebraska Life and Living Here Midwest. He is also the photographer, editor and author of the blog. When not traveling they love to continue to share their love of their city and state.

You can follow them at @100ThingsOmaha or thewalkingtourists.com

Second Chapter Brewing and Lake Mac Shack are an official stop on the 2023 Nebraska Passport.

Fridge Re-Stock

4/14/2023

Our first run of cans is long gone, but we have restocked the to-go fridge with some Drunken Sentinel. The Drunken Sentinel, our American Pale Ale, commemorates the days when Ogallala was a rough-n-tough frontier town, frequented by gunslingers and gamblers.

This crystal-clear pale ale has a pleasant and refreshing hoppy finish that needs no embellishment. Stop in the taproom this weekend for yours, as there is a limited supply.

Second Chapter Brewing uses a two-can filler and a can seamer, and then we manually apply the labels. It's a labor intensive process, but it allows allow us to prevent oxygenation and offer a quality to-go can that we are proud of.

Cheers!

Women In Ag

I had the pleasure of speaking with the local Women in Ag group on Tuesday, April 11. It was a great opportunity to reflect on our business story and share ideas with other women in our community.

As you may know, I (Lisa) grew up on a farm here in Ogallala and Richard and I relocated here from the East Coast six years ago to farm with my parents. We still have many connections to the world of agriculture, and of course we use many agricultural products in our process.
