A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, and a special nod to:

- String Fling, for bringing such great energy and music to the event.
- Main Street Meats, for the delicious salami and Irish cheddar.
- Bittersweet Bakery, for transforming our Imperial Stout into a delicious Irish soda bread.
- Richard, for brewing such a delicious Irish Prose Red Ale.
- Our taproom crew, for their tireless hustle and warm Irish welcome.

We’re so grateful for this community that gathered together and made it feel like an old Irish pub, full of laughter, stories, and good cheer.

Slainte!

Western Trails Sculpture Walk Celebration

5/1/2025

Join us in celebrating the launch of Ogallala’s inaugural Western Trails Sculpture Walk with a special kick-off event!

The festivities begin on Monday, May 5 at 5:00 PM at Eccentric Lamb Fiber Arts (111 N Spruce Street, Ogallala, NE). Guests will have the opportunity to meet several of the talented sculpture artists and take part in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Western Trails Sculpture Walk, held just outside the “pocket park” alleyway.

Following the ribbon cutting, enjoy a self-guided tour through Ogallala’s Western Trails Creative District, featuring a stunning collection of sculptures that will enhance our community for the next year.

Then, head over to Second Chapter Brewing (203 W A Street, Ogallala, NE) around 6:00 PM for live music, a festive Cinco de Mayo taco bar, and an opportunity to converse with the artists in attendance.

This event is FREE and open to the public. The Western Trails Sculpture Walk would not be possible without the incredible dedication of Keith County Area Development (KCAD), the Ogallala SWAN (Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska) Committee, Ogallala Regional Arts Council (ORAC), and our many community partners.

Thank you for supporting the arts in Keith County!

Oktoberfest 2024 is in the Books

O'zapft is! It is tapped!

Thank you to Chris Laflan for helping with our official keg tapping this morning, and congratulations to our Bier Mile Fun Run winners.

Zeb Peterson took the crown for the men's race, finishing the 1.2-mile course and three German beers faster than all the rest. And, Steph Miller narrowly edged out Second Chapter's own Nicole Hull. Nicole came in the gate first, but Steph was able to finish her Märzen in top speed.

All day long, the beer was flowing, the smoker was turning out some delicious brats, the Huskers were playing (and winning!), the taproom was hopping, and the music was grooving.

Our Steinhold Competition was won by the steady arms of Shad and Rochelle. In the Best Dressed, Carrie Dodson and Shad Burnside took the crown.

More pics after the break!

Goodall City Library

4/5/2024

Have you noticed the two plaques inside our doorway?
Funds were donated by Cindy and Dale Shoemaker to install plaques from the former Goodall City Library entrance at the current entrance of Second Chapter Brewing. Cindy (Stone) Shoemaker is the grandniece of Clarice and Robert Goodall.

According to Cindy, Clarice loved the community of Ogallala and contributed to many projects such as the public library, Goodall Rec Center, Goodall Girl Scout camp, Mansion on the Hill, and a wonderful animated Christmas display called Fantasyland. Her goal was to brighten the experiences of Ogallala citizens.

We had the chance to meet Cindy and Dale when they visited Ogallala for Cindy's Ogallala High School class reunion last summer. When we showed her the plaques that had been removed from their original place on the building, she was very moved to see these tangible artifacts from her family's history.

While we had always hoped to re-mount these so that everyone could see them and appreciate the history of this building, the Shomakers' gift allowed us to pursue that goal without further delay. We are grateful for their generosity and honored to help preserve their family's legacy in our community.

We are also thrilled to soon bring back our Goodall Golden Ale, which celebrates the generous foundation of Ogallala's former library. Pictured here with the plaques and newspaper clippings is a sample of the unfermented wort. We were able to dry-hop the beer today and it won't be too long until this smooth, golden ale is out of the fermenter and back on tap. Cheers to a new generation of community engagement and philanthropy in Ogallala!
